The two day Paediatric First Aid training course is designed for organisations and individuals employed in the care of children and infants. The course focuses on a wide variety of emergency scenarios that could face those with responsibility for child and infant care. Our Paediatric First Aid course is recognised by Ofsted and meets the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and childcare register requirements. The course qualification can also be used as supporting evidence towards the NVQ in Childcare & Education.
Paediatric First Aid training is appropriate for day nursery staff, private nursery schools, after school clubs for children in early age groups, pre-school workers, creche leaders, childminders, sports and leisure activities staff, parents, those working towards a qualification as an early years educator and anyone given the responsibility for the care and welfare of children and infants. The two day training course in paediatric first aid is an in depth course which covers a wide range of emergency scenarios and is designed to ensure that candidates feel capable and confident in performing the appropriate first aid actions required to safeguard the child or infant in their care. The course provides candidates with an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the paediatric “First Aider” and includes:
Being able to assess any emergency situation involving a child or infant safely;
Being able to provide first aid for a child or infant who:
How to correctly diagnose and treat a child or infant with a chronic medical illness or condition such as:

How to correctly diagnose and treat a child or infant who has suffered or is showing signs of:
|Poisoning||Burns & scalds||Bites & Stings|
|Electric Shock||Nose bleed||Cuts, bumps & grazes|
|Sun burn||The effects of heat & Cold||Eye, ear, nose or throat conditions|
|Head, neck or spine injuries||Shock|
The course duration is 2 days and lasts approximately 7 hours per day (depending on group size) starting at 08:30 am and finishing at 4:30 pm.
Candidates will receive continuous practical assessment throughout the training day and will be required to sit and pass a multi-choice question paper to gain the re-qualification. A basic level of both spoken and written English will be required.
On successful completion of the course the candidate will receive an industry recognised Paediatric First Aid Certificate which is valid for three years.
Refreshments and lunch are provided each day on this course and are included in the course fee.
